CITIZEN SCIENCE WORKSHOP: 21-23 July 2017 at TOT Academy, Nonthaburi, Thailand

CITIZEN SCIENCE Workshop #1 participated by nearly 100 local people: the local leaders, volunteers, youths, and the villagers who have been affected by the industrial pollution, such as mining, waste-to-power plants, coal-fired power plants, and industrial estates from 24 provinces around Thailand, for example, Prachinburi, Rayong, Chacheongsao, Chonburi, Chantaburi, Pathumthani, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakorn, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Prachaub Kirikhan, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Nakorn Sawan, Phitsanulok, Tak, Chaiyaphum, Lampang, Loei, Khon Kean, Sakon Nakorn, Surat Thani, and Songkhla.

Citizen Science Workshop aims to promote the knowledge and use of scientific information by the citizen. This is a part of the local people movement's strategy to gear forward to urging the public sector and the polluters to resolve the pollution problems. In addition, the dissemination of information and communication of situations and problems to wider society is recognized and understood to be part of reducing the potential threats and violence to the local communities.
